ในระบบการศึกษาของสหราชอาณาจักร “ตารางจัดอันดับผลสอบ A-Level” (A-Level League Table) คือการจัดอันดับโรงเรียนตามผลการสอบ A-Level ของนักเรียน ซึ่งจะมีการเผยแพร่เป็นประจำทุกปี เพื่อใช้เปรียบเทียบผลการเรียนของแต่ละสถาบันทั่วประเทศ โดยพิจารณาจากหลายปัจจัย เช่น สัดส่วนนักเรียนที่ได้เกรดสูง หรือค่าเฉลี่ยเกรดในแต่ละวิชา ตารางจัดอันดับเหล่านี้ถือเป็นเครื่องมือสำคัญที่ช่วยให้นักเรียน ผู้ปกครอง และครู อาจารย์สามารถใช้ประเมินคุณภาพทางวิชาการของโรงเรียนต่าง ๆ ได้อย่างชัดเจนและรอบด้าน

หลักสูตร A-Level คืออะไร?

A-Level (Advanced Level) คือวุฒิการศึกษาระดับมัธยมปลายของสหราชอาณาจักร ที่ใช้สำหรับเตรียมตัวเข้ามหาวิทยาลัยทั้งใน UK และระดับโลก โดยทั่วไปแล้ว นักเรียนจะเริ่มเรียน A-Level หลังจบ Year 11 (หรือเทียบเท่ามัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5 ในระบบไทย) และใช้เวลาเรียน 2 ปี คือใน Year 12 และ Year 13

A-Level เป็นระบบการเรียนที่ “เจาะลึก” นักเรียนสามารถเลือกเรียนเฉพาะวิชาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับสาขาที่ตนเองสนใจ เช่น แพทยศาสตร์ วิศวกรรม กฎหมาย หรือธุรกิจ ซึ่งจะช่วยให้นักเรียนมีพื้นฐานและพร้อมสำหรับการเรียนต่อระดับปริญญาตรี

เกณฑ์การจัดอันดับคะแนน A-Level

ตารางจัดอันดับ A-Level (A-Level League Tables) จะอิงจากเปอร์เซ็นต์ของนักเรียนที่สอบได้เกรด A และ A* ในการสอบแต่ละรอบ โดยเกรดของ A-Level มีการให้คะแนนตามสัดส่วนดังนี้:

A* – 90% ขึ้นไป
A – 80% ขึ้นไป
B – 70% ขึ้นไป
C – 60% ขึ้นไป
D – 50% ขึ้นไป
E – 40% ขึ้นไป
Ungraded (ไม่ผ่าน) – ต่ำกว่า 40%

โครงสร้างของหลักสูตร A-Level

หลักสูตร A-Level จะใช้เวลาเรียนทั้งหมด 2 ปี โดยมีรายละเอียดดังนี้:

จำนวนวิชาที่เรียน: โดยทั่วไปนักเรียนจะเลือกเรียน 3-4 วิชา
ไม่มีวิชาบังคับ: นักเรียนสามารถเลือกวิชาที่เหมาะกับความสนใจและเป้าหมายทางการศึกษาได้อย่างอิสระ
การเรียนแบบลึก: A-Level เน้นวิเคราะห์และเข้าใจเชิงลึกในแต่ละวิชา ไม่ใช่การเรียนหลายวิชาแบบผิวเผิน
ระบบการสอบ: การสอบจะเป็นแบบ “Linear” ซึ่งหมายถึงสอบปลายคอร์สเท่านั้น (ส่วนใหญ่จะสอบในปีที่สอง)

การเลือกวิชา A-Level อย่างไรให้เหมาะกับอนาคต?

การเลือกวิชา A-Level ถือเป็นหนึ่งในจุดสำคัญที่สุด เพราะมีผลต่อการยื่นเข้าคณะหรือมหาวิทยาลัยในอนาคต โดยมีหลักการดังนี้:

1. พิจารณาจากเป้าหมายในมหาวิทยาลัย

ถ้าอยากเรียน แพทย์: ควรเลือก Biology, Chemistry และอีกวิชาที่สนใจ เช่น Maths หรือ Psychology
ถ้าอยากเรียน วิศวกรรม: ควรมี Mathematics, Physics และอาจรวมถึง Chemistry
ถ้าอยากเรียน กฎหมาย: อาจเลือก History, English Literature และอีกหนึ่งวิชาที่เน้นการวิเคราะห์ เช่น Politics หรือ Psychology
ถ้าอยากเรียน ธุรกิจ/เศรษฐศาสตร์: ควรมี Mathematics, Economics และ Business Studies หรือ Geography

2. เลือกวิชาที่ถนัดและชอบ

ไม่ใช่แค่คำนึงมหาวิทยาลัยเท่านั้น แต่การเลือกวิชาที่ชอบจะช่วยให้เรียนอย่างมีความสุขและมีแรงจูงใจในการเรียนมากยิ่งขึ้น

3. ตรวจสอบวิชาที่มหาวิทยาลัย “ต้องการ” (Required Subjects)

มหาวิทยาลัยส่วนใหญ่จะระบุวิชาที่ “จำเป็น” ไว้ในการสมัคร เช่น คณะแพทย์ต้องมี Chemistry เสมอ
